Director of the Iowa City VA Center for Prevention and Treatment of Vision Loss, funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs, which organizes a group of over 20 scientists and clinicians towards studying and researching optic nerve and retinal disorders that have relevance to the military population, especially in relation to traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Expertise in the physiology of the melanopsin containing retinal ganglion cells (MGC) in humans and animals.

Steven Mitchell, PhD
Expert in computer vision and machine learning with over 20 years of experience.
Founded a consultancy group after receiving a Ph.D. in Electrical Computer Engineering in 2004 to take on machine learning and computer vision projects with the goal to develop new ventures in these fields.
Past projects include optical character recognition, augmented reality, real-time optical grading, facial tracking, gaze / eye tracking, natural language processing, motion tracking, and text sentiment analysis.
